It latches onto the tumours making them discharge vital molecules. Experts claim that this may be the early stages, but the experiments are showing valuable results from their research.

In Massachusetts USA scientist have adopted the same wasp venom to combat respiratory diseases. They were testing the venom to determine if they could create a unique antibiotic. The results were remarkable.

De la Fuente-Nunez is one of the senior authors of a paper. In a study of mice, the scientists discovered that their strongest peptide could eliminate Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a strain of bacteria that leads to respiratory infections and is immune to most current antibiotics.

Honeybee venom and melittin suppress growth factor receptor activation in HER2-enriched triple-negative breast and ovarian cancer. The venom from the honeybee like the Brazilian wasp attacks the tumor cells. wrote an article in September 2020 stating that tests using the venom from 312 honeybees and bumblebees in Perth Western Australia, Ireland and England, Dr Ciara Duffy from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and The University of Western Australia, tested the effect of the venom on the clinical subtypes of breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer, which has limited treatment options.

“We identified both honeybee venom and melittin significantly, selectively and rapidly reduced the viability of triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-enriched breast cancer cells. “The venom was extremely potent,” Dr Duffy said. A specific concentration of honeybee venom can induce 100% cancer cell death, while having minimal effects on normal cells. “We found melittin can destroy cancer cell membranes within 60 minutes.”

Dr Duffy said the aim of the research was to investigate the anti-cancer properties of honeybee venom, and a component compound, melittin, on different breast cancer cells.

“No-one had previously compared the effects of honeybee venom or melittin across all the different subtypes of breast cancer and normal cells.

“We tested honeybee venom on normal breast cells, and cells from the clinical subtypes of breast cancer: hormone receptor positive, HER2-enriched, and triple-negative breast cancer.


We have accepted snakes medicine as far back as the ancient Greeks and Chinese. China still uses snake venom for an entire array of ailments. Experiments on various snake venom have been taking place since the 1930s in labs across the world. Captopril, is a drug prepared of snake venom passed by the medical board back in the 80s and still in use today for hypertension.

Approved by the FDA in 1981, captopril is not a new drug, but its approval pushed the idea that venoms could create modern medicines.

The Brazilian pit viper, a snake found in the Amazon basin and forests, whose venom is the source of one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for hypertension (abnormally high blood pressure) — captopril .

Ace inhibitors which are a top selling drug today and have saved thousands of lives and its healing properties derive from a snake venom.

Researchers in the 1970s observed that plantation workers bitten by the Brazilian pit viper collapsed with crashing blood pressure. They separated out this pressure-lowering component in the venom, changed it, and released a synthetic version in the mid-1970s. The ACE inhibitor class of drugs has become one of the top 20 best-selling drugs of all time, with multibillion dollar sales. And many lives saved.

Remarkably, these products originating from the ancient reptilian evolutionary struggle have therapeutic values in addition to life-sparing regulation of hypertension. They are useful in the therapy of congestive heart failure (CHF), they help patients with coronary or other vascular disease, regardless of hypertension problems, they may stave off atherosclerosis, and they can slow the progression of kidney disease in people with diabetes. In addition, there is good evidence that the long-term use of these venom-derived drugs may reduce the risk of developing colorectal cancer.


The skin of the Golden Poison Dart Frog, Phyllobates terribilis, secretes a lethal venom that might serve to a better understanding of how to treat malfunctions of the human nervous system. There are many different spicies of this frog from banana yellow to brown with a stripe.

There is clearly opportunity for this frog’s poison to be adopted for the medical market like the snakes and bees, Unfortunately it is growing  harder to find them as they develop into a rare species.  By the time chemists work out what we could adopt the frog will be extinct.

An article from (2020) states how frogs may yet hold clues to killing pain. At least one frog deploys an opioid: the waxy monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa sauvagii), they lace the skin with the peptide dermorphin. Although the compound does not appear to be a toxin that wards off predators, dermorphin has about 40 times the potency of morphine in a guinea-pig ileum assay, but it doesn’t effectively cross the blood-brain barrier, says pharmacologist Tony Yaksh of the University of California, San Diego. Dermorphin also boasts an unusual chemical property: the inclusion of a D-amino acid in its sequence. Almost all amino acids found in natural compounds are L-isomers, and dermorphin’s stereochemistry makes it resistant to metabolism and “certainly renders it more potent,” Yaksh writes in an email to The Scientist.

This species of frog produces peptides labelled ‘ Magainins’ and they have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity which isolated itself from the skin of a’ African Clawed Frog’ and was found to induce rapid healing. ‘Xenopsin’ is the result product and is used in the modulation of gastrointestinal functions. (Xenopus Laevis) .


Lila Monster (Heloderma Suspectum) venom stimulated the human body’s production of insulin. Byetta (exenatide) is a treatment for diabetes 2. This drug name ‘Lizard Spit’ for slang, but market name is ‘Byetta’ is synthesized from the Gila Monster Lizard and was introduced in 2005. Heloderma venom have been produced ‘Byetta’ us injected twice daily. Unlike insulin this new drug can be stored at room temperature.

We are a significant distance from the regenerating of limbs on the human body. But scientists are hopeful as tests performed on lizards and the Aqua Axolotl shows potential. The lizard can shed its tail when caught by a predator and 60 days later the tails regrown. Experts have discovered that the tail grows without backbone. The tail is without vertebrae, the new tail is made of hollow cartilage. This is still very impressive and a handy trick to have upped your tail when you are so small and live in a rainforest.

The Axolotl can achieve the same with its tail and four feet, they will redevelop five times. In lab test scientists kept amputating the legs to ascertain how many times they would regrow.  Five was the limit.

Humans share 302 of the same DNA of the 326 that a lizard has. It could be feasible in many years to somehow genetically engineer separate parts of the cells of the lizard that form the rejuvenation of their limbs, then transfer them to the human body.

 “By following the genetic recipe for regeneration that is found in lizards, and then harnessing those same genes in human cells, it may be possible to regrow new cartilage, muscle or even spinal cord in the future,” he said. Here’s one thing to keep in mind, though: Yes, this little lizard can regrow its tail, but it’s not quite the same as the original. Scientists (also from ASU, go figure) learned a few years back that the replacement tail has shorter muscle fibers than the original, to say nothing of the tube of cartilage where the vertebrae used to be. That might be a tough break for an anole recovering from a predator attack, but this breakthrough could mean we’re approaching a future where birth defects and once-debilitating injuries become temporary setbacks instead of lifelong hindrances.


The biodiversity of our natural world is still beyond our complete comprehension.  Half the leading ten prescription drugs are dirivarants from plants or microorganism origin. We acknowledge this in research into cancer treatment. Our gratitude to the biosphere for its endless and vast contribution to successful treatment should be paramount. Three quarters of the treatmentments for anticancer spring from this.

90% of human suffering diseases can treated through prescription drugs thanks to God’s nature. To date the medicine to come from it is incomprehensible. Apart from the billions of dollars and jobs created through nature’s contribution to medical research. It has saved as countless lives.

We should recognise it that  thanks to the earths tropical rains forest and its dependable capacity to produce valuable life sustaining medicines that considerable suffering and sickness is now averted. The lower cost of preventive treatment and the beds that are available for others is thanks to the miracles of our natural world and its inhabitants.

1 billion individuals worldwide alone have high blood pressure projections suggest that by 2025 this will be 1.5 billion. It is thanks to our environment that we now have captopril.
